Having grown up on the east coast, I had few expectations about moving to the west coast when my husband had a work opportunity. We had both moved quite a bit and thought we were moving to just another cute little town.

We were surprised by the beauty, the micro-climates, the river, and the waterfalls so much so, that we are still here 15 years later despite it being far from family.

We have definitely seen much growth, both in tourists and home prices. Short term rentals have increased, and my hosting strategy has had to shift and change, but in ways that benefit the guest and challenge me continuously to stay up on the market, the trends, and the hospitality.

Five to ten years ago, most guests were happy to check-in and be left alone. I am now seeing a trend returning back to personal experiences and a warm greeting. Airbnb algorithms are noticing the hosts who keep up with their photos, pricing, and amenity updates.

How do you "up your game" to ensure you stand out from the average host?

Let's talk about how to move you from just hosting to hosting goodness.
