A moment to remember

As a US Marine Corps veteran, I would be remiss not to take a moment to consider the impact of 9/11. It is one of those moments in time in which everyone knows exactly where they were when they heard the news.
Having completed my military obligation, I was a new civilian and had just started a coffee shop outside the gates of Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC. I had created a make-shift drive through to sell coffee to the personnel headed to work. The sky was clear, but I had an ominous feeling in my stomach for an unexplained reason. The reason would become clear moments later as I heard the news and watched it on tv at the engraving shop next door.
Years later with too many peer losses to count, including my best friend Major Megan McClung and mentor Major Doug Zembiec, I continue to strive to excel daily in order to honor their memories.
Live well today and share your best with all those around you.
